February 15, 2013 - Lisa Gould

Twenty PDC staff and volunteers gathered to celebrate the holidays and a year of accomplishments that includes producing and delivering 21 workshops in 2012. Past and current staff and volunteers were invited to a dinner hosted by the PDC. Larry Elle, PDC President, addressed the group with genuine appreciation for the efforts of volunteers, who have contributed hours of their time and considerable expertise to several projects. From curriculum development and teaching to fundraising, developing and maintaining PDC’s web site, and managing projects, volunteers have enabled PDC to produce low cost trainings for professionals and for those in transition in these “interesting economic times.”

Following dinner, Larry surprised volunteers and staffers by presenting each with a small gift that included a certificate for a free PDC course and a certificate of appreciation he designed that was tailored to describe his or her achievements and contributions to the PDC. Emily Hutchinson, PDC VP, a steadfast advisor to the PDC since its inception, aided Lisa Gould in drafting the volunteers’ specific contributions.

John Perkins, PDC’s Director of Training Development, was acknowledged for having taught the most PDC workshops to date. Dave McGill, Director of Business and Fundraising Development, was present to share stories with those on his committee, which includes Mark Lovley, Peter Ajemian, and Bill Dowd (who was sorely missed), along with PDC senior execs, Larry and Emily. The group was delighted to see former PDC staffers Patti Hill and Sarah Ciriello.

Website project manager Gil Swire was on hand to snap photos and cheer on volunteers, many of whom work with Lisa, project manager for the website project, Career Connections. The CC project, which will introduce many articles about Managing your Professional Growth & Development, includes John Perkins, Kate Pulnik, David Heimann, Tyler Putnam, Lisa Maxwell, Steve Goulet, Grant Keith, Elaine Kraby, Marie Silk, Rick Martinec, and Barb Trax. Others missing from the event were volunteers,  including PDC’s venerable Webmaster Bill Josephson and his wife Joyce, who’ve both contributed volumes of hours to create and maintain PDC’s website. Kudos go to Barb Trax and Gary Sockut for both starting new jobs.
